Happier teams and a healthier planet: Bringing the connection economy into the everyday
Happier teams and a healthier planet: Bringing the connection economy into the everyday

I’m writing to you whilst on holiday with my family.
And I thought there’s no better time than when I’m surrounded by my favourite people to expand on my recent theme of the connection economy.
The connection economy is a term borrowed from business, meaning the economy of relationships and collaboration.
As a concept it’s becoming increasingly significant in our everyday lives, and particularly when it comes to healthcare and wellbeing.
The connection economy is driven by interconnectivity.
It emphasises the power of networks, relationships, collaboration, and shared value creation. It’s interested in how this leads to exponential growth, infinite possibilities, and endless opportunities for those who master its dynamics.
In our digital world, particularly post-pandemic, the success of a product or service can no longer be hinged on its quality alone. Business growth and success relies heavily on the ability to build meaningful connections with customers, partners, and communities.
It never ceases to amaze me how the more detatched tech is from human needs, the more likely we are to evolve it into something human led and tech enabled!
On to how the business concept of connection economy is seeping into everyday life…
We can all agree that one of the biggest social challenges of our time is the increase in lifestyle diseases and conditions, driven by sedentary behaviours, poor food sources and a reduction in human connection.
Whilst medical science focuses on how to effect positive change from a disease perspective, social psychology and behavioural science is excited about the possibility of human connection as a tool for addressing these challenges.
Helping humans to find others like them - people who can identify with their struggles, who can learn from each other, support each other, who can heal together - is a key factor in improving the health and wellbeing of people facing these challenges.
What we’re finding though is that people living with these lifestyle diseases and conditions are organically creating their own connection economy. They’re tapping into the tech available to seek out and build their own communities. And it’s having a massively positive impact on their health and wellbeing.
If that’s not an endorsement for the power of the connection economy, I don’t know what is!
I’m excited to see how we can harness this energy to facilitate this, and to create our own improved connection economy.
At MyDay we’ve been building on this concept.
We’re harnessing what’s already helping so many people, and making it more accessible, more powerful and more readily available, so that we can bring it to everyone who needs it.
Life is rich. The future is bright. Humans can do amazing things, and you and I can make a choice every day to be a part of all that is good in the world.
If you’d like to learn more about how MyDay can help your people to harness the power of peer-to-peer support whilst improving wellbeing and taking climate action, reach out to schedule time for a call.
