Climate Action Focus: April 2023

Each month, MyDay chooses one of our planet partner Ecologi’s climate action projects to highlight.

What does this mean?

By tracking steps, wellbeing activities and kudos given to peers in the MyDay app, users collect Planet Points, which are exchanged for gold standard carbon credits that fund Ecologi’s climate action projects globally.

Our highlighted project for April

This month our highlighted project is the Matavén REDD+ project, which protects 1,150,212 hectares of tropical forest in Colombia’s Indigenous Matavén Forest Reservation from deforestation.

Due to economic pressures on the almost 16,000 Indigenous people who live locally, small-scale farmers are often forced to move into the project area - located in one of the most ‘megadiverse’ regions on the planet - and deforest it.

This project involves local people in protecting their forest environment by delivering an alternative to destroying it.

By employing the local population as rangers, and by working to support the development of sustainable livelihoods that work in harmony with the forest, the project eases economic pressures, and empowers local people to protect this uniquely diverse tropical forest.

Each project we highlight from our climate partner Ecologi brings our app users impact to life, connecting small daily habits to tangible, real world climate action.

If you’re an app user, or you’re thinking about trialling MyDay in your company, do go and check out the Matavén REDD+ project here.
